Independent Reading Book--You are required to bring a reading book to class every day for independent reading. You should avoid bringing comic books and magazines to class unless you have completed your reading assignments for the month.
1 Notebook--You will need one college rule notebook for individual writing. You need to bring the notebook to class every day. Once the notebook is full, you are responsible to purchase and bring more to class.
English Binder/Folder--You need an English binder, folder, or an English section in your school binder to put all English related materials.
Individual Reading and Writing Assignments: In addition to reading class novels, you will be required to read at least one 200 page book every month. You will receive credit through various assignments and class discussions. You will also be required to write 2 pages in your writing notebook every week. You will receive credit for your writing by following assignment guidelines and expectations. Classroom Novels: Students will need the following class novels:
Second Term: The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton
Third Term: Mississippi Trial, 1955 by Chris Crowe
Fourth Term: Zen and the Art of Faking It by Jordan Sonnenblick
If you are unable to purchase or borrow the above mentioned novels, our school library has a limited amount of novels available for check out.
